CHILD SAFETY: STUDENT SENSITIZATION ACTIVITY

A comprehensive Child Safety Student Sensitization Activity titled “Your Safety, Your Security” was conducted for students of Grades VI–XII to promote a safe, respectful, and inclusive school environment. The interactive sessions focused on the core values of Respect, Responsibility, and Safety, while creating awareness about personal and digital boundaries, safe and unsafe touch, mutual consent, trusted adults, cyberbullying, and harassment. Students were sensitized to the provisions of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, 2012, and encouraged to understand their rights and responsibilities. Through the action-oriented mantra “Recognize, Move, Report,” they learnt to identify unsafe situations, seek timely support, and report concerns to parents, teachers, school counsellors, or other trusted adults. The programme concluded with a Child Safety Pledge, reinforcing every student's commitment to building a secure, supportive, and responsible school community.

Workshop Report

Child Safety, POCSO Compliance & Prevention of Corporal Punishment

JM International School conducted a workshop on 15 July 2026 for all teaching and non-teaching staff, led by Dr. Amita Saxena, Principal, to reinforce child safety, POCSO compliance, and the prevention of corporal punishment. The session focused on strengthening staff awareness of their legal and ethical responsibilities towards ensuring a safe, secure, and child-friendly school environment.

Dr. Saxena sensitized the staff on the provisions of the POCSO Act, 2012, emphasizing professional boundaries, appropriate communication with students, identification of warning signs of abuse, confidentiality in handling disclosures, and the role of the School Child Protection Committee (SCPC). Staff members were reminded to avoid isolated one-to-one interactions with students and maintain transparency in all student engagements.

The workshop also reinforced the school’s Zero Tolerance Policy towards corporal punishment, verbal abuse, humiliation, discrimination, and emotionally threatening behaviour. Further, the session stressed the importance of vigilant supervision, monitoring of sensitive areas on campus, collaborative communication with parents, and fostering a culture where every child feels safe, respected, and confident to report concerns.

An Online Training Programme on “Child Safety Awareness” was organised by SPUWAC, in collaboration with the Directorate of Education and SCERT, on 1st July 2026. This was held in Adarsh Auditorium, PHQ.

The programme aimed to enhance teachers’ understanding of child protection, safety measures and their role in creating a safe school environment. The sessions covered key areas such as child rights, signs of abuse and neglect, cyber safety, bullying prevention, POCSO Act, reporting mechanisms and teachers’ responsibilities in safeguarding children.

Resource persons Ms. Seema Rai Chaudhary, Dr. Deepak Kumar and DCP Neha Yadav, IPS highlighted the need for early identification of vulnerable children, physical and emotional well-being, mental health support and effective communication with students and parents. Practical case studies, presentations and discussions made the sessions interactive and informative.
